My Makeup Journey-Part 2

I almost forgot to continue this series, which I started when I first began blogging not too long ago.  To be honest, I almost forgot to continue sharing this journey but, my recollections have been very therapeutic and sweet.
I've come to realize that I need to make an amendment to part one of this journey because elementary school is really where my journey began.  How could I forget the countless allowances and paychecks (yes, I had my first job in sixth grade) spent mostly on Avon and BonneBell's Lip Smackers (Dr. Pepper, Bubble Gum and Strawberry were my faves).  Now that I think of it, I became enthralled with all things beauty-related at a very young age.  I was not allowed to wear makeup in elementary school but I was allowed to wear nearly clear lip balms and glosses such as Lip Smackers, clear and nude coloured nail polish and "age appropiate" fragrances.  I don't  remember the name of my only permitted fragrance when I was a little girl, but as I got a little older, I was allowed to wear perfumed skin softeners.  Oh how I looked forward to getting my little Avon catalogue at school each week (one of the teacher's assistants was an Avon representive).  I would place my order almost immediately and anticipate the delivery of my products with glee--Okay I know that sounds cheesy but, I was just a young girl then         ( filled with glee :D ).   My usual order consisted of nail polishes, Flavor Savers Lip Gloss in Strawberry and Bubble Gum, perfumed skin softeners, my favorite Dew Kiss Lip Dew, and etc.  I remember how moisturizing and delicious smelling the Flavor Saver Glosses were and how soft the perfumed fragrances left my skin.   Out of all the countless lip products I've tried from Avon, the Dew Kiss Lip Dew was my favorite because not only was it very moisturizing, it had a more mature smell. It wasn't the usual fruity scent that I was accustomed to wearing, so it made me feel grown up--like a teenager.  I haven't ordered anything from Avon in years but, I went to the website and was delighted to see that some of my childhood favorites were still there and at even lower prices than I remember.  Now I just have to find a representative in my area because I am so getting some Lip Smackers and Dew Kiss Lip Dew.

Hopefully many of you fellow cosmetic connoisseurs (I refuse to label us as junkies or addicts :D ) will be able to relate to my early explorations and experiments that have guided me to the place I am today--a lover and lifelong student of all things beauty-related.
When, if ever, was the first time you explored cosmetics?  What were your favorite products?
